ALERT – Second Flight of Moths Started
Please be aware that box moths have started their second flight of the year. Given they start laying eggs just days after they start flying, you need to be on the look out for small caterpillars which will hatch a few days after being laid.
Here is some advice of the professionals at The gardens of Marqueyssac France:
Pheromone traps are very effective… they can track generations of moths to trigger treatments (spraying) at the most favourable time (ideally 4/5 days after the moths flight for the first pass then a second 14 days later).

If you haven’t already put out a pheromone trap then please do as the more that are out there the more disruption is caused to the breeding cycle of the moths.
Remember though that the traps aren’t 100% effective so you will also need to spray to control the caterpillars that hatch from the eggs that do get fertilised.
Suitable sprays & traps are available via links in our shop or can easily be found with a quick Google search for ‘Box tree caterpillar biological spray‘ & ‘Box tree moth pheromone trap‘
