Enjoy A Missed Visit

June 4 should have been the day EBTS UK enjoyed the delights of Rotherfield Park, East Tisted, Alton, the home of Sir James and Lady (Judy) Scott (a member who kindly invited us to visit).  We could have been wandering around the 12 acre garden that has been in the Scott family since 1808.  With it’s walled garden, wonderful yew buttress hedge, much topiary, some comic, some traditional, clipped yew and a green amphitheatre by landscape designer, Kim Wilkie, all set in a park of the picturesque movement.

Sadly due to Covid-19 the trip wasn’t able to go ahead, but for those members who weren’t able to take up Lady Scott’s second very generous offer, this time for a private visit to take exercise looking at the garden, you can now visit virtually.  Sir James Scott is the Patron of Cardiac Rehab, a Charity dedicated to helping improve Heart Health, Fitness and Wellbeing of individuals with, or at risk of developing, Heart Disease.  To raise money for the charity, they had been due to hold a fund raiser at the garden, but like our visit this was cancelled.  The charity did however film a virtual tour of the garden which we can all now enjoy and maybe contribute with a donation to aid the excellent work Cardiac Rehab does across the country?
