Rodmarton Manor Lecture Days
Our Garden Lecture Days will be held in the historic Arts and Crafts Manor House at Rodmarton. Each day begins at 10.30am with coffee and tea before the first talk at 11.00am. A delicious two course lunch with wine and elderflower will then be served with time to explore the garden before the second lecture starts at 2.00pm. The days will end at around 3.30 to 4.00pm with tea and homemade cake.
English Garden Eccentrics
Todd Longstaffe-Gowan will delight us as he reveals some of the most obscure and eccentric English garden-makers. These incredible characters created some of the most unconventional and personal gardens between the early-seventeenth and early-twentieth centuries. This highly entertaining talk gives a fascinating insight into some of the most obsessive gardeners of the past. If you like gnomes and bizarre topiary you are in for a treat!
Todd is a landscape architect and author, with an international practice based in London. He is gardens adviser to The Historic Royal Palaces, lecturer at New York University (London), Trustee of the Chelsea Physic Garden, president of the London Gardens Trust, editor of The London Gardener and author of several books including The London Town Garden and The London Square.
The Long Road to Chelsea
A journey through some of the gardens Richard Miers has created over the last 17 years.
Richard Miers talks you through his personal journey as a garden designer. Taking us on a voyage through a number of the gardens he has designed, including ‘With Love’, the People’s Choice award winning RHS Chelsea Flower Show Garden in 2022. Richard gives us insights into the career he loves, his design ethos and how you can create some of his wonderful Chelsea magic in your own gardens.
Richard’s illustrious career has led him to be named as one of the 20 finest gardeners and landscape designers by Country & Townhouse Magazine in June 2022 and one of the Top 10 Up and Coming garden designers by House & Garden Magazine in February 2011. In 2012 Richard was chosen to represent the United Kingdom in the Gardening World Cup in Nagasaki, Japan with his garden ‘Serenity’.
