Landscape Design and Flourishing Biodiversity
Urquhart & Hunt
Lulu Urquhart and Adam Hunt will speak about their approach to landscape design in order to increase biodiversity, creating connections between our gardens and the wider natural world.
Having been in practice together for 18 years, their talk will draw on a selection of their projects, with a focus on the challenges posed by both small scale gardens and broader estate management, restoration and land healing. Their talk will explore how their work aims to connect us with nature, as well as provide networks for wildlife. They will discuss how their ‘A Rewilding Britain Landscape’ garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2022 represents this ethos and for which they won Best in Show. Adam and Lulu will discuss the role of gardens as key habitats across the wider UK landscape.
This lecture is a must for anyone interested in the rewilding movement and how to adapt it to your own garden.
Urquhart & Hunt are a landscape design practice which specialises in garden design and ecological restoration. Previously they collaborated with renowned designer Piet Oudolf at Hauser and Wirth, Somerset as well as designing the expansive gardens at Babington House.
A Colour Tapestry
Colour plays such an important role in Jimi’s planting design. In this lecture he shares his love of colour and how he uses it to maximum effect in his garden at Hunting Brook in Ireland, creating bold and unexpected tapestries of colour combinations throughout.
Your plant wish list will be much increased after you’ve had an insight into his incredible plant knowledge.
Jimi is a true plantsman and self confessed plant nerd! Leaving school, there was only one career he wanted to pursue. He trained at the National Botanic Gardens of Ireland, based in Glasnevin, Dublin before creating the famous gardens at Hunting Brook, Co. Wicklow. He now teaches and lectures around the world.
