Topiary Dragon Quest
First my Mum sent me a fuzzy image from her iPad of a dragon sighting in North Norfolk, then Lynda the EBTS Administrator mailed me with a better quality picture asking if I had seen it. Soon it was on the BBC News website and in the Eastern Daily Press, so I felt as I was in North Norfolk I had to track this beast down. So through the back lanes I drove looking for the monster in the hedgerow and as I approached Bagthorpe there he was, a 100ft dragon crafted out of privet hedge.
This topiary dragon called Fizz is the work of John Brooker, who at 75, is still getting on his ladder and keeping the big fellow looking trim. John’s good work doesn’t stop there as there is a collection box for ‘Nelsons Journey’ a charity that helps Norfolks bereaved children – you can find out more about the charity by clicking on this link to their website www.nelsonsjourney.org.uk
So if like me you regularly drive the roads of North Norfolk, keep your eyes peeled as you never know what might be lurking round the next country corner. If you do spot another topiary wonder why not snap a picture or two and send it in to website@ebts.org
