Cadenham & Highgrove
As we’re now into 2020 and the new season of visits will start to be available in February, let’s take a look back to September when we visited two very different gardens in Gloucestershire. Both were members gardens, the first Victoria Nye’s Cadenham Manor and the second HRH The Prince of Wales Highgrove House.
Cadenham Manor
Victoria is working to restore the box in the parterres and is currently trying out a product from Carbon Gold. This uses biochar which works as a soil improver and can also deliver nutrients to plants depending on what type you use. A representative from the company was on hand to answer questions on the range of products offered by the company and what they were hoping to achieve with the trials on the buxus parterre.
After a two course lunch at the nearby Foxham Inn, we headed to Highgrove House for a guided tour of the gardens and at the request of the Head Gardener, a chance to talk with the gardening team about the latest best practice for caring for boxwood & topiary. We were also allowed to be the first group to see HRH The Prince of Wales 70th birthday garden.
