Saturday 29 March at 6pm GMT

Chatting all things pruning with Lara Miranda of the Aesthetic Pruners Association in the USA.

Aesthetic pruning is a creative interpretation of small trees and shrubs. The foundation of the work is based in Japanese pruning and Bonsai, making plants into works of art within a garden setting.

This wide-ranging chat will detail what aesthetic pruning is, some techniques and pruning vocabulary, how the art relates and differs from topiary as we know it in Europe, and what the future will be for aesthetic pruners in the USA and across the world.

Lara is the current President of the APA and a certified aesthetic pruner and arborist. She works mostly in the Bay Area of Northern California and has a primary focus on pruning Japanese maples, Japanese black pines and California natives.

This is an exciting opportunity to see photos and learn new ideas about different pruning styles from around the world, and how it can translate for use in our own gardens.
